Welcome to the journey

This isn't just a drone blog. It's a collection of adventures on two wheels, on foot, and from the air.

Aerial view of Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool

Some days that means riding quiet country lanes in search of a hidden viewpoint. Others, running a coastal trail before sunrise or hiking to a summit, stopping along the way to launch the drone and catch a perspective most people never get to see.

But the drone is only part of it. The real adventure happens on the ground: the ride out to a remote beach, the climb to a windswept ridge, the early start when the roads are empty. The moment you stop, take it all in, and realise there's a completely different view waiting above.

Through these stories I'll share the places that inspire me. Dramatic landscapes, winding roads, coastlines, hidden trails, and the details you don't notice until you see them from the sky. I'll write about photography, filmmaking, travel, cycling and hiking, and the creative process behind capturing it all. Now and then I'll take you behind the scenes of a commercial shoot, and how aerial work helps places and events show themselves off in a way a camera on the ground can't.

Whether you're after your next ride, planning a hike, looking for somewhere new, or just curious to see things from a different angle, I hope you find something here that gets you outside.

A circular ride from Pickerings Pasture, along the Bridgewater Canal and back on the Trans Pennine Trail.

Every good adventure starts with taking a different route. And sometimes the best view is the one you never knew was there, until you looked from above.

Follow along

New routes, films and photos as I find them. If you've somewhere worth seeing from the air, I'd love to hear about it.
